Miho Kinnas
Three Poems
Hometown
I hear my name
in my mother’s voice —
a missing shoe
Dark tulips disappear
into the shadow leaving
white ones behind
The sound catalogue:
tofu seller’s brass horn, tap
water gushing, a baby’s cry
Dead Tide
The crab
the size of my footprint
flesh picked out.
The walking legs are splayed
like a discarded face mask
The swimming legs had a plan.
Three Shrimp Boats On The Horizon
.....Moon..............White...............Seagulls.
.....Kites................Cirrus...............Horizon.
.....Air....................Water...............Wishes.
.....Turn................Wait..................Listen.
.....Shades...........Mirrors.............Distance.
.....Depth.............Tones................Whispers.
.....Prussian.........Blues................Strings.
.....Cries...............Lost...................Crystal.
.....Rock...............Paper................Scissors.
